JEFF PETERS

  • Jeff Peters was born in Long Beach, California and spent most of his childhood in Fullerton as a pretty normal late eighties and nineties youth mesmerized by skateboarding, surfing and music. His mother was an interior designer and would introduce him to the things she found interesting, opening a door to thinking about beauty to balance out the youthful need to embrace anything rebellious and punk. At a young age, Peters became fascinating with how things came to be visually, and he would draw anything that interested him from objects around the house to any strange or mundane imagery that came via the mail. He saw at it all as a lesson. Soon his mother began asking for specific things that could work in her interiors — paintings and drawings. He was happy to oblige.

After years traveling and honing his craft while working various labor jobs with great people, Peters got a job teaching drawing, painting and figure drawing at Laguna College of Art and Design. Peters now makes paintings, drawings and a variety of other forms of art. Most of his paintings end up in homes, hotels or corporate environments, and he likes to keep the content balanced between a type of realism and abstraction, it’s real… but not quite.
